I'm no Jimi Hendrix. Or Daniel Johns. But I enjoy my music. Playing it, singing it, or just listening to it...music is a very therapeutic thing. But my family begs to differ with my music tastes... I enjoy the music of silverchair, Hole, Korn, Jebediah, Greenday, Frenzal Rhomb, The Superjesus, Foo Fighters, Prodigy, Garbage, and yes, sometimes even Nirvana. silverchair is by far the best out of the bunch for me - I recall when I first got into them, by hearing 'Freak' on the radio. Since then, which was about January 1997, I have gone on to collect nearly all of their CD's, 11 t-shirts (at last count), posters which line my room and many other things. My highlights are of course, the signed stuff - Ben & Daniel signed my llama ringer t, Ben & Chris have each signed photos for me, and Chris has written a thankyou note to me before. The guys are all very sweet, and I do appreciate what they've done. Thanks to you all! All the bands I've met have been pretty cool. The best would be a tie between Frenzal Rhomb (the band and I even got on pay-TV talking, if anyone can find me a copy of the Pushover '98 Festival on Channel [V] I'd be really grateful!!) and Sarah McLeod from The Superjesus (we moshed to silverchair's 'The Door' this January...and went to get a photo together but my camera ran outta film...). Others would be Bodyjar, Vanessa from Jebediah, Magic Dirt (I can't believe Daniel went out with Adalita...she's pretty snobby!!), Webster, Snout, Area 7, 28 Days, Gameover...and a few others I've forgotten for now! And I got a chance to meet Jane Gazzo (ex-Triple J host) while she was judging a band comp so that was excellent. I was invited once to meet silverchair - it was on March 6, at The Forum, Melbourne. Twice I was asked to attend the meet & greet session (being one of the photographers for the evening), but I couldn't make it due to the fact that some friends were waiting on me so they could leave. I hope to meet the guys eventually, but until then, I'll keep moshing on and hopefully I'll met some more people on the way!! I play guitar too. Been doing so for over 2 years now. Like I say, I'm no expert, but I can play almost 20 silverchair songs by memory, in particular No Association, Miss You Love (my own little accoustic version!), Tomorrow, Stoned, Anthem For The Year 2000, Cemetery, Roses, and -almost- Slave. I play a bit of my own stuff for good measure too... Which is heaps fun. |
